By Godfirst Faith
For a long time that word (up there) got me scared. Yeah.I was at a point in my life where I had crossed the bridge but wouldn’t
burn it. l was like a shaky soldier whose hands and head didn’t face
the same direction: I had my hands on the plow but my head was
turned to the back. I moved from Spirit-led conviction to mentally-
processed pseudo-assertion. My heart wanted to be anxious for
nothing but my head was inclined to worry about the future: my future.
I had so many “what if” questions that seemed to whip my soul.
One night, as I sat with the Psalms I found an answer. I found that
answer in the nature of God’s character: that God is FAITHFUL. So
much that even if I choose to deny Him, He would NEVER deny himself.
In the words of A.W. Tozer, “faithfulness is that in God which
guarantees that He will never be or act inconsistent with Himself…
God will never cease to be who He is. God is His own standard. He
imitates nobody and is influenced by nobody. And because God
imitates nobody, He is never forced to act out of character.”
I like the way Hillsong puts it: ‘You never fail and You won’t start
And because God is faithful, I can trust Him enough to pledge my
allegiance to Him.
“For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will remain our guide
even to the end”. – Psalm 48:14(NIV).
